The Black Chook is sort of a big brother to the Woop Woop’s. Opting for a little more McLaren Vale fruit to go along with his Langhorne Creek fruit, Ben Riggs ups the ante just a little bit in these wines. Keeping with the value oriented theme Black Chook was kept simple and clean bringing a beautiful white blend to the table that is generally Viognier dominant blended with co-fermented Marsanne & Roussanne from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek The increasingly popular Sparkling Shiraz, that is Methode Champenois from aged Shiraz, brings a little diversity to the label and the Shiraz/Viognier, a blend of McLaren Vale and Langhorne fruit, brings the classic into the equation. The Shiraz is co-fermented with the skins of the Viognier and aged in seasoned oak. Ben Riggs delivers the purity of the McLaren Vale and the superior value of Langhorne Creek with a simple approach to freshness and quality.
