Highland Park 12 makes for a perfect introduction to a lot of the more nuanced aspects of scotch whisky. You get light peat, salty coastal notes, plum, vanilla, and raisin with a finish that reminds you “Oh yeah, this is a single malt scotch”. My only complaint is, it’s thin. It’s light. The 43% just barely holds it back from holding a permanent spot on my shelf.
